DESCRIPTION 
“To Hear the Burning Moonlight” is a  story about learning to love the parts of ourselves we are ashamed of.

This fantastical, coming-of-age film explores the daily struggles of a teenager. Cycles of shame and destuction riddle her mind.

When she hears music for the first time her shame manifest as a demonic possesion that destroys everything she holds close. Her world will end and in the wake, she will discover her true destiny. To share “the funk”. To kill “the man”. To teach the world to embrace their demons.

INTRO SCENE -> THE FUNK

SCENE OVERVIEW
After loosing her first real friend umi decides to give up on the funk, but she soon realizes that hell - is very funky.

SCENE GOALS

Set up the film in a way so that the audience knows that the main characters journey is a matter of life and death.


SCENE 01 -> THE WOODS



SCENE OVERVIEW
In a world where music is illegal a group of young punks take refuge in the woods to get a quick fix and ease their hearts. But, “The Man’s” assistant is on the hunt. The Crew must channel powers from their inner funk-demons to escape the woods before being killed.





SCENE GOALS
Establish that music is illegal.
Establish the good and evil in the story.

Introduce demons, cops, and the funk in a quick and action heavy sequence that sets up the end of each act in the film.

Intoduce greenies ( one of the lead characters ) inner world / inner struggles




SCENE 02 -> YOUR HEART IS A WIND UP MUSIC BOX


OVERVIEW
This fantastical, coming-of-age film deconstructs ideas of fractured families, bullying, and mental health. It explores the intricacies of the daily struggles of a teenager who is possessed by a hip-hop funk demon and forced to adhere to the expectations of her peers. The film contains queer romance, a funk apocalypse, and nostalgic glimpses into childhood. It intends to teach people how to overcome shame, by finding love for the parts of ourselves that we are taught to be ashamed of - no matter how different, no matter how dark.

SCENE GOALS

This is the second sequence of Act 1 which serves as an introduction to the main character Umi by showing her hopes, dreams, and family life.
